We were approached by the client whose hardware needed an update as the current hardware had become outdated and no longer fit for the intended purpose. The client asked what hardware would be best to implement into their network in order to run a high functioning business whilst still being cost effective and manageable.
Scope of Work
The task was to source and provide high quality servers to the client which could deal with the high levels of traffic from all of the sites. This service was needed to run all the relevant workstations and host all the programs and software installed.
The action taken was:
- to source new microwave wireless kit so that they would have internet access to both their current buildings that are opposite each other. The internet would be supplied by Aytel Systems and fed through our BT internet feed.
- to use an external data centre (Aytel Hardware Private Infrastructure) that gave a cloud service rather than hardware on site. By having the server hardware off-site provides a GDPR compliant platform and provides business continuity in case of any physical and environmental damages.
The hardware dedicated to the client, would be configured off site on a cloud platform so that the client could remote log onto their user profiles and gain access to their environment for business purpose 24/7. Backups were advised as a selection criterion to fulfill all compliance measures. In order to understand the client’s needs we first took a detailed look into their network to discover the specifications needed to host this and then began the implementation of the new hardware off-site.
The result was that the client could now run all of their workstations and software simultaneously on new servers that are off site and on the cloud and could cope with the high levels of traffic and would last them many years. The client was happy with the new hardware and internet and how well it was implemented into their current network. The customer was also happy that their solution was future proof for growth.
